Two-board assembly labTest exact face alignment and linked board movement.
Boards 0 parts
Tap a piece in the model or choose it here. Move or resize Upright to verify that the linked Shelf follows.
Template dimensions
Modify the template and all dependent boards recalculate together. Units display to 1/32″ or 0.1 mm.
Carcass uses butt joints: sides run full height; cap boards fit between sides; shelves fit between dividers. No dados or hardware are modeled.
Live cabinet constraints v0.8
Edit an individual board's stock thickness without breaking its neighbors. Linked pieces automatically adjust to the side panels. Unlink any piece to move or resize it freely; relink to restore automatic fitting.
Choose a cabinet board.
Rules: sides remain full-height; panels span between sides; shelf stays a proportional height above the bottom. All parts have independent thicknesses. Joint depths and clearances are modeled only for supported linked panels. Verify machining dimensions.
Woodworking joints v0.8
Machine shelf dados and top/bottom rabbets into the side panels. The model adjusts mating board lengths and can display the removed material. The joints here are through-grooves across the complete cabinet depth—not stopped dados.
Actual measured stock thickness (inches)
Use calipers on the actual boards. These numbers control the cut list and dado slot width. Nominal ¾″ plywood is often thinner.
Groove details will appear here.

Face snap & links 0 links
Select a board, choose a reference board and its face, then snap. Linking keeps your board attached when its reference moves or changes size.

Calculated cut list
Parts grouped by label, size, and material. Length × width × stock thickness reflects the board model, including measured cabinet stock thickness.

Materials and notes
These are modeled part sizes, not fabrication-approved cuts. Cabinet dado and rabbet geometry is included when enabled; cutter tolerance, saw kerf, material defects, structural loads and fasteners require separate checks.
Dimensioned orthographic drawings 3 views
Front, side, and top outlines use the same board data as the cut list. Overall dimensions and reference coordinates are shown. Overlapping edges are not hidden-line resolved.
Technical reference drawing only. Separate dimensioned joint detail sheet below includes machining details; use the joint schedule for groove positions. Fasteners and engineered load ratings are not included. Confirm dimensions before cutting.
Cabinet joint detail sheet v0.8
Front elevation, left/right shelf-dado sections, measured stock sizes, remaining sidewall, and machining schedule. Download a scalable SVG for printing.
On iPhone, swipe the drawing sideways to inspect both joint details.
Reference drawings only. Drawn groove positions assume square boards, flat panels, full-depth dados, and no tool deflection. Always test-fit a scrap piece before machining.
Plywood sheet layout v0.9
Guillotine-free-rectangle packing (heuristic). Each sheet uses one material and measured thickness. Parts keep their modeled cut size; no part is resized to fit. Saw kerf separates adjacent pieces, and the perimeter trim is excluded from the usable sheet.
Length follows the long-axis grain by default. Switch off the grain lock only where cross-grain orientation is acceptable. If stock dimensions vary, measure sheets rather than assuming nominal size. Raw-panel yield does not include defects, support tabs, or the full cutting sequence.

Printable workshop packet
Includes a cut list, three-view reference drawings, a joint detail sheet for cabinets, and a labeled sheet layout for each thickness/material group. Drawings are dimensioned references, not 1:1 cut patterns.
Print the packet at standard page size. Verify the cut list, grain, joint clearances, stock squareness, saw kerf, and real board thickness before cutting. There is no globally optimal nesting guarantee, cut-path generator, or hardware engineering assessment.

Install on your iPhone PWA v1.0
After uploading this site to a public HTTPS address, open that website in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen (or Open as Web App if offered). Launch it from its BenchCAD icon.
First launch requires internet. After the app shell is cached, the editor can reopen offline. Project autosaves live only in the current website/app storage; they do not sync between Safari and the Home Screen app. Export your JSON backup before removing the app or clearing site data.
Install status will appear here.
Workshop checklist
- Verify board measurements, material, and dimensions.
- Inspect orange collision warnings, if present.
- Choose joint method and account for saw kerf.
- Verify wall mounting, hardware, and load ratings independently.
- Back up your project as JSON.
About this prototype
BenchCAD PWA v1.0 is an installable web app (when served over HTTPS) built from the v0.9 modeling engine with an interactive projected 3D board viewer. It is not a CAD solid-modeling kernel, structural engineering package, or a guaranteed optimal sheet cutting system. Face snapping, independently editable cabinet stock, shelf dados, cap rabbets, a joint schedule, printable packet, and 2D sheet nesting are included. This is still a rectangular-prism woodworking prototype, not a general solid-modeling kernel.
